I feel like I’ve woken up in a parallel universe. As the locals say, “This is Africa…TIA”.

Six months ago, we parked up Innocenti at Rebak Marina in Malaysia and flew home to New Zealand to sell the house. That hasn’t gone so well for us so far. We’re still waiting for the house to sell. We’ve had three offers (all of which have fallen over).  What we thought would take six weeks is still dragging on.

We have had a great time in NZ. I stepped straight back into a fishery officer role. We had some wonderful family time, and Christmas was a blast. But we miss our boat, and our plans to complete a circumnavigation have gone awry. We felt like we were marking time until the house sells. We’ve been pedaling like mad and getting absolutely nowhere.

Somehow, we’ve found ourselves in Cape Town South Africa as the skipper and chef on a super yacht.

This blog is going to focus our new adventure as we prepare to cross the Atlantic to be in Barcelona for the Americas Cup.

My job is to feed six people for the next four months and to work how I will provision the boat for maybe 30 days at sea. There are not many supermarkets across that stretch of water. Our first stop will be St Helena.

Making meals to go in the freezer. I suffer from mal de mer for the first few days. At least there will be some meal ready to go.

So standby for some adventures in the galley. I’m slightly terrified by such a daunting task. What if we run out of milk? But we might have some fish. I made sushi today with some sashimi on the side. Tim, the engineer, caught a 67kg tuna yesterday.
